What is LED?
Light Emitting Diode (LED) is a relatively new light source to the domestic market, which is growing in its applications almost daily. An LED is a semiconductor device which converts electricity into light. Each diode is about 1/4 inch in diameter and uses about 350 milliamps to operate at about a watt. LEDs are small in size, but can be grouped together for higher intensity applications.
Blue, green, and red LEDs; these can be combined to produce most perceptible colors, including white.
Infrared and ultraviolet (UVA) LEDs are also available.
Lifespan of 50,000 hours
LEDs are better at placing light in a single direction than incandescent or fluorescent bulbs. Because of their directional output, they have unique design features that can be exploited by clever designs. GlobaLED's lighting products serve a wide variety of markets with multiple applications.
